Custody & risk
- If the issuer disappearsIf the provider disappears, users retain access to their unconverted crypto assets but would lose access to the fiat balance held on the card account.
- Counterparty riskFiat balances are held custodially by Twispay; if provider disappears, users lose access to fiat card balance
- Market riskCashback paid in volatile EGLD/XMN tokens, which may lose value
- Regulatory riskService limited to EEA due to licensing limitations; expansion dependent on securing additional licenses
The card uses a hybrid custody model. Crypto assets are held non-custodially in the user's xPortal wallet, where the user controls the private keys. Once crypto is converted to fiat (EUR) for spending, the fiat balance is held custodially by the licensed e-money issuer, Twispay.
